North Penn High School, 1978

Mary Anne passed away in June of 2016; she would have been honored to receive this award. She always loved sports and while at North Penn she starred in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. After graduating, some of her passions became football, soccer, volleyball, and softball. She was a six-time all-American in softball and on many occasions, her teams finished in the top five nationally.

Mary Anne grew up in Ambler and was one of six athletic children and she loved her family with all her heart. Her competitive spirit developed while battling with her siblings every chance that occurred because she always wanted to be the best.

In 1995 she and her husband Brian had what would be their only child, Allison. Mary Anne’s world changed that day as she was devoted to her daughter for the rest of her life. Mary Anne soon changed from dominating on the field or court to being number one cheerleader to her daughter who played several sports of her own. Mary Anne never missed a game, event or activity where Allison was involved.  Besides her family, Mary Anne’s friends were extremely important to her.
